Mexican Restaurant for International Mango Festival

If you’ll be attending the 27th Annual International Mango Festival this July at the wonderful Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden, we invite you to weave in some outstanding Mexican cuisine into the affair by visiting us here at Oh! Mexico!

This is a fantastic annual event at one of the Miami area’s genuine treasures and all-around beauty-scapes, and we think a meal at our Espanola Way restaurant will go perfectly with the occasion.

The International Mango Festival at the Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden

Mangoes, and especially the widely cultivated variety known as the common or Indian mango (Mangifera indica), are among the most coveted of tropical fruits. Though they hail from South Asia originally, common mangoes have been planted all over the tropical and subtropical world. That includes South Florida, where mangoes are widely grown for commercial harvest and landscaping, and where these trees have also become naturalized/feral.

The Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden in Coral Gables hosts one of the world’s great collections of tropical plants and conducts research and conservation work through its Tropical Fruit Program, which makes it a highly appropriate place to celebrate the much-loved mango.

This year’s International Mango Festival at the Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden goes down Saturday, July 13th and Sunday, July 14th. It’ll include a wealth of mango trees and fruits for sale, a one-of-a-kind mango tasting and mango auction, cooking demos, an extensive mango display featuring fruits from all around the globe, and some fascinating mango-focused lectures, including (on Sunday) “The History of Mexican Mangoes” presented by a professor from Chapingo Autonomous University in Texcoco.

There’ll also be a variety of food vendors on hand as well as a Summer Beer Garden featuring libations from Concrete Beach Brewery, Lagunitas Brewing Co., Ceza Sur Brewing Co., and others.

Sunday morning also features one of the festival’s signature events, the Mango Brunch, a major fundraiser for the Tropical Botanic Garden.
